Crumbs
The following is a companion to Route Haunting: A Barnes Adventure. It is a countermapping of the walk and zine – documentation of the tour waypoints to signpost what was, what is, and what if (we can only walk in this virtual landscape).
If you have not completed a walk, please use the contact page to join. A zine is distributed to every walk participant.

In the direction of Castleneau
We follow the right-of-way that runs along track 1 to get to the first zero-point.
Zero Point A: The Pitch
GPS: 51.46727, -0.23967
Grid Ref: T Q 22372 75724
We arrive. “A General Muddle” is read aloud by the group. Then, we continue casually walking.
Zero Point B: A Clearing
GPS: 51.46783, -0.23712
Grid Ref: TQ 22435 75757
At Zero-Point B, there is a guided orientation into muddling – first, a semi-stationary guided activity to re/sensitize to the surroundings and deepen listening practices. While interactors are in their mindful listening state, then guide reads about Virginia Woolf in Richmond. Interactors are then instructed to continue their mindful walking. n
This is a ‘tuning-in’ to the surroundings and the experience of this particular walking style. Interactors are oriented to attend to the layering of voices, sounds, smells, visual field and what is felt on the skin – the intention is to correlate the pastiche of the zine with the experience ‘in the field’.
A re/orienting walk to see with your ears, smell with your skin
Zero Point C: A layby
GPS: 51.46814, -0.23548
Grid Ref: TQ 22661 75828
While still remaining in the mindful state, a guide reads the passage from Solid Objects.
