Southdowns Records Test

Recorded audio during walk

Youtube: Sussex GPX Audio Test

Audio thoughts from Firle Beacon, turning towards Charleston

A GPX track is linked to an audio file recorded on site in this test. It follows along a section of the Southdowns Way heading east from Southease as it turns towards a rights-of-way footpath to Charleston. At the start and end of the recording, coordinates were saved on the GPS device.

This route involves two tumuli (ancient burial mounds) and a long barrow (larger burial mounds). The mounds are covered in hedges composed mainly of Hawthorn trees. The audio starts with a brief introduction to the activity and procedures. Later, there is a description of the location, some comments on this method, reflections on the practices (procedures, methods) emerging through walking, and speculation on how these processes may affect the reception and (personal) impact of the project.
